HOPE FOR HUMANITY PROJECTS RELATED TO HEALTH, EDUCATION AND EMPOWERMENT
SUPPORTED IN 2008 AFTER CAREFUL REVIEW:
Support given to two needy children with cleft surgeries through The Smile Train.
Support given for surgeries to two needy children with congenital and acquired heart disease through Hrudaya Foundation.
Support given to needy immigrants for the mental health needs through AOP of NY.
Support given for access to clean water to five villages through Naandi Foundation.
Support given to many worthy causes such as Epilepsy, Multiple Sclerosis, and Komen National Race for Cure, and Half A Marathon etc. through annual walks by many volunteers.
Support given to two Medical College Students and one Engineering Student that are poor by paying their tuition and expenses through Siddartha Medical Institute and Institute of Science and Technology.
Support given to several orphanage girls with food, shelter, clothing and education through Vaidehi Seva Samithi and Center for Social Service.
Support given to two young children that are poor by paying with education, school supplies and uniforms through Vonumu International.
Support given to school children for food, clothing and purchase of furniture for a newly built classroom at the Vijaya Mary Integrated School for the Blind.
Support given to help pay for tuition costs to a handicapped student, who suffers from basic learning skills, through Big Brothers and Big Sisters.
Support given for scholarships to two deserving and needy graduate students who demonstrate their community service through Biomedical Program Student Foundation.
Support given to the students of DC Public Schools with scholarships to learn the ideals and practices of Mahatma Gandhi through Gandhi Memorial Center.
Support given to low- income families to start small businesses such as vending vegetables, grocery shops, tea stalls, Rickshaws etc through Ambedkar Micro loans.
Support given to Several Women by providing them with free tailoring skills and sewing machines through Prabha Women’s Welfare Foundation.
Support given through many volunteers with preparation of 4 thousand meals to the Homeless in DC Central Kitchen.
Brief description of various causes supported through HfH funds in 2007:
Each worthy cause that we selected, is carefully reviewed before funding.
ASHA: Deals with Domestic Violence. Through this Center, we helped support one victim that needed help to gain the skills and confidence to rebuild her life.
Asian Outreach Program: Through this Clinic, we were able to provide support to Asian immigrants that seek help with the mental health needs.
Association for India Development: From this org., we are currently supporting 10 villages in Srikakulam District with two programs. One that helps provide books for Children’s libraries and the other with “Ragi” distribution for malnutrition children.
Breast Cancer and MS: We helped these organizations through annual walks.
Education for Cab Drive’s Son: We were able to provided support to this cause.
Ekal Vidyalaya: We are sponsoring 3 schools to educate the tribal children in India.
Engineering Student through a School in Hyderabad: We are sponsoring one poor and needy Engineering student each year till she graduates.
Food Bank and SOME:(So Others Might Eat) We contributed funds to these two centers to provide support with food, shelters and job training for the homeless.
Humphrey House: This serves as an emergency group house and guidance center for Under privileged children where we provided support to help this need.
Hrudaya Foundation: Through this organization, we helped with surgery for one child with congenital and acquired heart disease.
Leprosy Home: We helped the inmates of this center with food and clothing.
Mahatmas Gandhi Memorial Foundation: Through this center, we were able to provide scholarships to two students with a course studying the life message of Mahatma Gandhi with an experience of “Ashram living, learning, and serving ”.
PPC: We provided support to this group that deals with quality health care for kids with chronic conditions and disabilities.
Prabha Women’s Welfare Foundation: This Center offers free training with sewing skills to several poor women each year. We are providing funds to purchase sewing machines to these Women to earn a living on their own.
Sankara Nethralaya Omtrust: Provides free eye care for the poor in India. Our funds help support free, minor surgery every year to a needy and deserving.
SOFOSH Orphanage: Our funds provided to this hospital helps support caring for orphan children abandoned by their families.
Soup Kitchen (via SSVT): We prepared and provided food for homeless in DC.
The Smile Train: We provided funds for one cleft surgery through this organization.
UPAKAR: We provided funds in support of scholarships to bright and needy.
Vijaya Mary Integrated School for the Blind: We helped this school’s children with Uniforms and Annadanam.
Youth Empowerment Program through The Art of Living: Our funds supported Bell Multicultural High School Children with Youth Empowerment Seminar. This course helps to reduce anger and depression for troubled street and underprivileged children with violent and drug problems.
